305c is ALIVE!

Finally, The 305 Creative Company is born.

It has taken a little over a year (15 months actually) to get everything in order, but it's finally here. No, I haven't been working on it straight for 15 months... that would be crazy. I've been busy with being newly married, newly responsible for a little pug, been busy with my new job as a computer programmer at AVX Tantalum in Biddeford, Maine and just to damn busy with the previous orders at Bourne Designs to get started on the transformation to The 305c.

In all, it has probably taken about 3 months, off and on, to get everything going for The 305 Creative Company's website. It is entirely driven by PHP (PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) a server-side scripting language and MySQL, an open-source database system. What the hell does that mean?!?!? I'll tell you... This means that all of my projects are put into a database so I can have a record of when I finished each one.

On top of that, users can create an account, rate projects, post comments, look at the most recently added projects and contact me at anytime. So, basically, PHP/MySQL can automate many things and make the user's experience that much more dynamic.

Ok, enough of the nerd talk.

I said, "enough" Spock!
The 305 Creative Company. I'm sure you're asking yourself, "How the hell did he come up with that dumb name?" Well, it's not as dumb as you would think. Back in high school, I played in a band with my best friend Adam Spencer. We would jam in the winters in a motel room and that room was always #305. We could never think of a cool name for our band. So, we decided on Room 305. It worked.

Later on, Adam was diagnosed with Leukemia and spent over a year trying to fight it off. Eventually the disease won the battle and my best friend had passed. In his honor, I have changed my business' name from Bourne Designs to The 305 Creative Company. I urge anyone to check out LLS to get information on this horrible disease and to help out if you feel like it. There is also a link on the 305 homepage.

So, now you know how The 305c works and where I came from. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, like most stories, but it's my story. The 305c will be actively seeking clients to make the world a bit more aesthetically pleasing and will be actively involved in design contest.

So, stay tuned. I should have a lot of design related post to put up in the near future.
